Lighting & Lumens Design

Consultant: Sarah Jenkins, Lead Interior Architect

$149Per Room

A room can have gorgeous furniture and stunning color, but if the lighting is poor, the entire design falls flat. A single ceiling light in the center of the room casts deep shadows, washes out colors, and creates harsh glare that contributes to eye strain and headaches.

Our Lighting Layout & Lumens Design service combines mathematical footcandle calculations with interior architecture. We layer your lighting (ambient, task, and accent) to create visual depth and utility. You will receive a complete fixture placement layout specifying bulb lumens, color temperatures (Kelvins), CRI ratings, and dimming compatibilities.

The Three Layers of Light We Coordinate

01

Ambient Layer (General Lighting)

We determine the required ambient lumens using IESNA guidelines (e.g. 10-20 footcandles for bedrooms, 30-40 for kitchens). We map recessed canister spacing to ensure soft, even illumination without casting harsh shadows on walls.

02

Task Layer (Focused Work)

We plan focused lighting exactly where work occurs. This includes under-cabinet LED runs in kitchens, eye-level shadow-free vanity sconces in bathrooms, and adjustable desk lamps in home offices.

03

Accent Layer (Mood & Art)

We add character by spotlighting architectural features, fireplaces, and gallery wall art. We specify picture lights, track heads, and wall washes that draw the eye and create high-end visual interest.
